A decade ago we saw the launch of the Motorola Razr, a handset that went on to sell over 130 million units worldwide. Ten years later Motorola have decided to launch the Razr handset again but with all of the features that you would expect from a modern smartphone. We take a close look at this exciting new model and see what it offers in terms of design and connection options.

The Razr is currently the slimmest mobile handset currently available measuring just 7.1mm at its thinnest point. This is an improvement from the iPhone 4 which was launched 15 months ago and measures 9.3mm which at the time was thinner than any other device. The other dimensions of the Razr are 130.7 x 68.9mm which means that the model is larger than the best selling Samsung Galaxy S2 for width and height. In terms of weight the phone is a fairly standard 127 grammes which is heavy enough to make the phone feel well constructed whilst remaining light enough to make it comfortable for prolonged use. In terms of appearance the model is undoubtedly one of the most stunning we have seen released over the last 12 months. The body sports a two tone finish in a non glossy black colour that helps the model look more premium than many of its shiny black counterparts. This dark colouring is nicely broken up by an attractive Motorola emblem on the back panel which really stands out thanks to its silver finish. Not only does the phone look superb but it is also very durable thanks to the body being constructed from Kevlar, the same material used in bullet proof vests. The entire shell of the phone is also treated with a special coating named Splashguard meaning that and liquid that is splashed onto the device will not cause any harm and can be easily wiped away.

The Motorola Razrfeatures an array of different connections positioned along the edges of the phones frame. As with most modern smartphones a micro USB port is present which allows the phone to be easily connected to a home PC or laptop for synchronisation. A less common HDMI output is also fitted on the model which allows you to easily connect the phone to an HD ready television and watch movies or view photographs on the large screen. This socket is also used by a range of accessories that have been especially developed for this model. These accessories include an impressive laptop dock which effectively turn the Razr into a laptop computer and a media dock which enables you to use the phone as a multi media hub for listening to music and viewing photo and video files. If you prefer to use your phone as a portable audio player the model also has a 3.5mm stereo jack located on the top edge.

The Motorola Razr is one of the most eye catching and stylish Android devices ever released. Not only does the phone look superb but the high quality materials used in its construction ensure that the phone will still look great months after you first take it out of the box.
